Author: John Acquavita
I was raised in Staten Island, New York, where I was ingrained with a love of sports that has not dwindled to this day. I moved to Pennsylvania when I was 20 and finished my undergraduate degree among Amish farmers in rural Pennsylvania. After editing press releases for years in Philadelphia, I moved to Baltimore at 30, where I worked as a proofreader in publishing, after a brief stint as an elementary school teacher. At least my master’s degree looks nice in my home office.
My claim to fame is not necessarily marrying Dr. Acquavita, PhD of Social Work and post-doctorate fellow at Johns Hopkins, the number-one ranked hospital in the country for the past 20 years, but the captain of the high school cheer team.
I shun texting, iPads, iPhones, and any music after the hair metal heyday. I work with a red pen, a ruler and real paper, and love every minute of it.
